The damage dealt by the Megalopolan troops and the ultra-beasts is an extensive one. Even now, people are weary of any lingering effect that might remain from the war.

Pokken Rider kneels down against the ground, running his red gauntleted fingers across the dirt. There has been rumors of still-infected Pokemon roaming the area and the league has spread itself too thin to properly take care of everything. Thankfully, he’s willing to do all he can to help.

”Record these tracks down.” he says, briefly hearing static before ”Bzzt. You got it, boss.”

He slowly stands as he stares at the large tracks trailing off in the distance. His hands ball up tightly into a fist as his sight trails off to the distance, worried about what he might find; after all, he’s seen the news and even the reports. He’s seen all the gruesome details involved.

In actuality, Stormy is here looking for survivors. She had arrived of her own volition in the hopes that she might be able to lend some aid to the surrounding area, whether that be escorting lost and injured civilians or beating back what remained of their alien enemy.[break][break]

What she found made her stomach churn, seeing the burn marks in the ground, smelling the tang of fear and pain and.. definitely blood.[break][break]

Movement catches her eye, however, and the woman nudges her Charizard to land. What she sees is wholly unexpected and makes her hesitate- but not enough to put the pieces together. All she sees is a Pokkenger suit not unlike Kazimir Wynter's, and she calls out to him mid-sprint. Wadjet rumbles, clearly confused and well-aware that the man she's running to is not Kazimir, but Stormy is unaware.[break][break]

"Kaz? Is that you? Oh thank Arceus you're alright!"[break][break]

And then she slams him into a tight hug, unless, of course, he avoided her entirely and she ate the dirt, instead. [break][break]

Pokken Rider’s cheeks flush red as he is suddenly embraced by a beautiful woman causing him to feel thankful that his face is masked by his helmet; otherwise, his embarrassment would be known to the world.

Seeing the Charizard near the woman and realizing that she’d call out an unfamiliar name, it seems she’s confused him for someone else. Resting his gauntleted hands on the woman’s shoulders, he gently pushes her away.

”It seems you’ve got the wrong person.” he quickly corrects the woman. She must be familiar with Pokkenger… is Kaz his name? Looking back at the Charizard, the woman seems plenty capable as a trainer, but alas the mission ahead isn’t safe and he’s worried for the civilian. ”You should take your leave, miss. It’s dangerous ahead.”

As Pokken Rider tries to distance himself, he hears static from his comms as Shine suddenly speaks out to him. ”Bzzt, boss, we’ve got something on the scanners. We should move.”

He turns his helmet back to the woman, holding out his palm as he then points away. ”Go!” he yells before sprinting away. ”Shine, give me those coordinates.”

It occurs to her immediately after her arms wrap around him that this is not the man she thought it was. She's met with resistance and awkwardness that quickly turns mutual as she hesitates, a note stuck in her throat as she errors.[break][break]

He pushes her away and she seems just as eager to put distance between them, warmth spreading across the bridge of her nose. Stormy's expression quickly changes from relief to suspicion and perhaps some degree of anger as she looks this strange man up and down.[break][break]

"Who are you-- take my leave?"[break][break]

Who does he think she is? [break][break]

The voice inside his suit is unnoticed by she, as she doesn't have super intense hearing capabilities. Instead, she tilts her head at the sudden and abrupt lack of communication she receives from him, and the way this man holds his palm out to her to get her to stop - or something, before springing away. [break][break]

"What's happening?"[break][break]

Wadjet seems on edge as well, lifting her head and flaring her nostrils as she spreads her wings. While she takes to the air, Stormy is left on foot in plain sight.[break][break]

"I'm not going anywhere, you Pokkenger imposter! I'm here to help!"[break][break]

Outraged and bewildered, the woman begins running after this false-Pokkenger, with Wadjet flying just above her. [break][break]

His brows crease and his eyes scrunch close together as he spies the alien-like beast off in the distance. It speeds closer to them, aiming its stinger at the two menacingly as it suddenly expunges purple liquid from its needle.

He hears flapping wings behind him and light footsteps trailing behind. Glancing back, he easily spots the woman trailing after him.

”Shit, substitute!” he cries out in alarm. For a brief instance, the red glow from his vizor dims as a hologram-like Pokken Rider separates from his body. The secondary Pokkenger takes this ample time to leap backwards as he grabs ahold of the woman, pulling her away with him as the visage of Pokken Rider is melted away by the beast’s toxic attack.

Still holding the woman in his embrace, he grimaces as he stares at her. ”I never said I was Pokkenger, I’m Pokken Ri-“ he suddenly pauses as he realizes that it isn’t the time to complain about his identity. ”Why’d you even follow me? It’s dangerous over here!”

Pokken Rider is quick to release the woman as he stares back at the battle-hardened Ultra Beast. He folds his hands close together – electricity suddenly sparking from his gauntlets. ”Thunder Wave!”

Extending his palms outwards, a surge of electricity suddenly flares out from his red gauntlets, covering the Naganadel as it quickly paralyzes it. ”Bzzt, we got it, boss!” the Rotom chimes in on his communication lines. Seeing the beast’s movements obstructed by the electricity, Pokken Rider turns back to the woman. ”Alright, just leave this to me, okay?” he says with confidence brimming in his voice.

The breath is forced from her lungs as the false-Pokkenger turns on her. She slams against him and he pulls her close and away from the danger. Her eyes widen in surprise as a copy of the man is left behind and promptly turned to a puddle. It sizzles as it eats at the gravel. Despite how clear it is that she had almost been destroyed like that, she struggles in the Pokken Rider's arms with an indignant grunt.[break][break]

"What? You're who?"[break][break]

She hesitates, stepping away from him hastily as soon as he lets her go. The threat is still at large behind them, and as the superhero launches a thunder wave from his gauntlets, Wadjet follows up with a dragon claw, slamming the creature to the ground. [break][break]

"It looks like you're leaving it to Wadjet."[break][break]

Stormy smirks, gesturing to the shiny black tail as it sways aggressively from side to side. The Pokemon roars, flames pouring from her mouth as she continues to give this creature a thrashing. She tucks her wings defensively whenever it twitches, protecting her already scarred up wings from being damaged further.[break][break]

"I followed you because this is my job. Route 110's clean-up was left for League officials to take care of, you're the one who shouldn't be here."[break][break]

His eyes widen in surprise as the black Charizard manages to get ahead of him, swiping at the alien bee-like creature with its claws. He looks back to the woman, head hanging slightly low as she chides him for impeding on her job. ”Is that right?” he asks somewhat sheepishly.

Yet, there’s no time for him to relax as the ultra beast lets out a massive roar, poison jabbing at the Charizard with its stinger.

”You can call me Pokken Rider, ma’am!” he bellows out without shame for borrowing from the Pokkenger’s moniker, charging at the two as his suit seems to glow brightly. He leaps upwards, kicking at the beast’s lower body as he channels the Rotom in his suit’s facade into his kick, knocking the beast away momentarily.

Putting some distance between the three, the eyes from his helmet begins to glow red as a the Naganadel's body begins to glow a similar color, it's movements becoming more rigid as it struggles to move from the Pokken Rider's hex.

"Yep."[break][break]

Wadjet barely has enough time to side-step the attack, bellowing in a fit of surprise and rage as she retreats. She pushes wind back in the bizarre bee's face, knocking it prone a second time. This time, it gives the Pokken Rider the window of opportunity. [break][break]

Stormy is left open-mouthed and surprised as the man darts from her side to run in for close combat. [break][break]

"W-wait! You can't just run in there!"[break][break]

Kazimir did, sure, but she wasn't sure he actually punched Pokemon. Did he? Y'know.. he probably, almost certainly did. Stormy slow-blinks at the realization, shaking her head. What a dumbass.[break][break]

Except, while watching this false-Pokkenger enter the combat zone, she was watching his red suit literally perform Pokemon-like moves. It made her pause because she's never seen anything like it. Was this alien technology stolen from the Megalopolans?[break][break]

She remains where she is because she is not wearing a fancy superhero suit capable of taking a poison jab to the head, so she allows Wadjet her spotlight. The Charizard comes in hot with a fire punch, her fist burning badly upon contact.[break][break]

As the woman’s Charizard charges in, barraging it with fiery punches, Pokken Rider begins putting distance between the two. He reaches down against his belt, pulling out an yellow electronic key from it. The glow from his vizor immediately dims as he pulls out a nearly identical key but more of a sky blue in color.

He slips it into the same slot as the previous key and the light from his suit immediately brightens back in. ”Bzzt. Aye boss.” a voice calls out on his comm lines. His grin widens as he stares at the Charizard and alien.

”Let’s go Frosty, Blizzard.” he utters in a low voice, breaking into a quick sprint as he charges at the two. As he passes by the black-haired woman, he calls over to her. ”MOVE YOUR CHARIZARD!” he madly yells, leaping forward as he reels his fist back. Frost seems to cover over his gauntleted fist, spreading upwards before he punches out against the alien right in the abdomen.

As soon as his fist connects, shards of ice suddenly blast outwards like shells scattering out from a shotgun barrel, piercing into the strange creature. The Naganadel reels back, screeching in pain as its body is continuously pierced by the sudden blizzard striking into its body before collapsing to the ground.

Pokken Rider turns back to the woman, straightening his stance as he gives her a thumbs up.

"Where are you going? You aren't going to leave me here with this ultra beast, are you?"[break][break]

For a moment, panic flutters in her chest. An entire force had been required to handle a swarm - this one was alone. Pokemon fought way harder when they're alone, cornered, afraid.[break][break]

Perhaps the same could go for her, too.[break][break]

But then there are footsteps drumming from behind her and Stormy is filled with a sense of dread. Cold air buffets her exposed skin as the Pokken Rider races forward, and he's.. yelling? [break][break]

Wadjet takes the hint, feeling the sudden burst of cold against her scales. She pushes away with a dramatic flap of her wings, allowing the man to break through and punch the Naganadel into the ground. Stormy blinks, visibly surprised (and impressed). Her expression breaks into a small burst of laughter and a shake of her head when he turns around to throw her a thumbs up.[break][break]

"More like 'Dorken' Rider. Smooth moves though. Did you make that suit yourself?"[break][break]

Without hesitating, the woman approaches him to touch the chin of his helmet, inspecting the lights behind it and the design of the.. helmet.. pieces.[break][break]

The woman’s anxiety and weariness towards the new and unfamiliar hero dissipates almost immediately after the ferocious alien’s defeat. Her casualness and sudden intimacy takes him aback. He quickly leans his spine backwards as she extends her soft and delicate hand out to touch his helmet – hesitant that she might take the opportunity to abruptly unmask him.

”Thanks for the support!” His voice briefly brims with overacted confidence, before taking a more serious and concerned tone. ”But… are you okay?” he asks, remembering the panic in her gestures and the fear in her eyes.

In all aspects, the Elite Four member looks completely like a normal citizen and completely ill-prepared to combat against a menacing monster, but war has ways of forcing people to change and adapt. There are plenty of news about the war and the Megalopolans’ viciousness and cruelty; however, none are so detailed in comparison to the reports he’s read during his tenure as an International Police officer.

Stormy's hand falls just short as the man leans away from her. It prompts a smirk to spread across her face and she raises an eyebrow - though she isn't the least bit surprised by his reaction. She would have been more surprise if her had actually let her touch his helmet. It had occurred to her, of course, to simply remove it.[break][break]

He attempts to change the subject and she tilts her head, more perplexed by his switch from forced confidence to concern. She blinks, considering his words.[break][break]

"I always am."[break][break]

The scars she bears suggest differently, but she speaks with confidence and the intensity of her attention is challenging as she stares into the reflective surface of his helmet. She can see herself in the dark glass, and for perhaps the first time in a long time, her brows furrow as if unhappy with what she sees. Stormy swallows.[break][break]

"I should be asking you that. You have a death wish, handling a Pokemon like that in close combat? You aren't a Pokemon, man."[break][break]

Pokken Rider looks at the Elite 4 member with the blank stare of his helmet. Doubt is written beneath the cover of his helmet, though the girl isn’t able to see it.

”No one is ever ‘always’ okay.” he curtly retorts.

He stops himself from speaking any further as he’s not the type to push boundaries when involving personal matters. Instead, the masked hero scratches the cheek of his helmet, physically showing his embarrassment at her scolding.

Yet, despite his embarrassment, he takes his accomplishment in stride as he rests both arms against his hips. His chest seems to pump upwards as if he were some sort of super hero in a comic.

”Don’t worry. I’m not handling it alone.” He isn’t lying; after all, he has a team of Rotoms with him.
